LIFESTYLE CONTENT

LIFESTYLE VIDEO // DIRECTION

Zamp Solar asked me to help them drive more sales via E-commerce and also expressed the need for content that would live on digital signage that was being developed. They needed more visual storytelling to convey their products' benefits to their target customers. Over the course of 2 months, I worked with the product development and sales team to determine what attributes to focus on, and how they could be shown in use on various RVs. Zamp Solar offers mobile power solutions to a broad range of outdoor enthusiasts, which makes creating general content challenging. We narrowed the focus to targeted consumer groups — "Over Landers, Van Lifers, and Glampers."

I had a vision for what this could look like and how we could capture the feature benefits of the products in use, and the concept needed to be curated and organized on paper. I developed a product shot list, cast the models, secured the RVs, and scouted locations. At this same time, I created a graphic treatment for post-production so the photo and video team would have a reasonable frame of reference for where logos, product features, and any other graphics would live over the images while we captured them. Once the direction was set and all references were shared with the team, we scheduled our shoot days and kept our fingers crossed so that mother nature would work with us, not against us.

Post-production was relatively fast, and the amount of revision work was minimal thanks to the early direction provided to the team. The final assets were delivered, and helped establish Zamp Solars' digital presence, which helped drive and grow revenue in the DTC space. The videos also contributed to a robust asset set deployed at retail on their Digital Signage POP displays.

These videos became the catalyst for what would eventually turn into an Art Direction position with Zamp Solar's parent organization, Dometic, and the Dometic Outdoor team.

PRODUCT & TECHNICAL FEATURES VIDEO // DIRECTION

In addition to the lifestyle video series I had directed, I wanted to create a product tech series of videos to focus on the product itself. This series would help showcase the commitment to construction and quality that set Zamp Solar apart from its mobile power solutions market competition. I wanted to use the same team that had helped capture and produce the lifestyle content because they had already been exposed to the products, their features, and their benefits. Once again, I worked with the product development team to hone in on the finite details of the products we would shoot to ensure there was the utmost respect given for attention to detail. I also developed an app that housed all of the necessary references, like shot lists, inspiration, and tech callouts to be captured. Because two shoots were happening on either end of the studio simultaneously (photo still for ecommerce on one side and video production on the other), I wanted to ensure direction was accessible at all times to the team as I would be working to direct both teams at the same time, in separate rooms. We traveled to Seattle, Washington, and set up shop in a premiere studio where we could fully control lighting and sound. We spent one full day dialing in our setup and spent the next two days shooting the content. I'm proud of the team and the work we produced while in the studio. This content is some of the best that Zamp Solar has ever had when relating directly to product tech.

 ANIMATED CONTENT

CONCEPTING // ANIMATION //DIRECTION

The final element to the video collection I wanted to create for Zamp Solar was an animated piece that would combine the concepts I had worked towards capturing in the studio and in the field with live action. This technical animation would be an additional firepower for the sales and marketing teams to use to convey the product's benefits.

To start this project, I worked to storyboard the concept through illustration. I put pen to paper and built out each segment, frame by frame. I also worked on laying out the direction of the graphics before production to alleviate any unnecessary time going back and forth in post. This storyboard and graphics references were then handed off to the most talented animator I have worked with throughout my Career. He spent one month developing the first round of editing, and after minor revisions, we sent the video off for additional sound engineering.

  BRAND ACTIVATION

SPECIALIZED X ZAMP SOLAR

In the Spring of 2022, Zamp Solar partnered with Specialized, one of the biggest names in the bike industry. They had a fleet of demo e-bikes that needed to be charged while on location at the Sea Otter Classic. There was only one problem: insufficient power or outlets to keep their massive fleet of e-bikes charged. Zamp Solar set up a Mobile Solar Charging Station inside of the Specialized Demo Center., with over 1000 watts of solar charging, and kept the demos topped off for the event.

I flew down to assist the team with the demo and capture content to promote the activation. I shot and edited this video in one day and posted it to social media in real time as the event was happening.
